Will AI replace your job? We asked the AIs

What jobs will ChatGPT replace, by its own account? We put the same question to four AI assistants, ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini and Perplexity, for each job: will AI replace it in the next 10 years? Each had to answer in one word (Yes, Partly or No), then one sentence. Then we compared their answers with what the evidence says, through our Still needs a human score.

Where the AIs think the job is safer than the evidence does

Most of the assistants answered “No” or “Partly”, but our score puts more of the work within reach of AI.

How we asked

• The question, word for word: “In one word (Yes, Partly or No), then one sentence: will AI replace [job] in the next 10 years?”
• The assistants: ChatGPT (gpt-5.5), Claude (claude-sonnet-5), Gemini (gemini-3.8-flash) and Perplexity (sonar), through DataForSEO’s AI answers service, with no system message. Perplexity always searches the web; the other three answered from what they know.
• Our answer in the same terms: a Still needs a human score under 40 counts as “Yes”, 40 to 59 as “Partly” and 60 or more as “No”. The majority of the four is compared with that; a tie counts as “Partly”.
• One answer each. Assistants can answer differently if asked again, so treat any single answer as an opinion, not a measurement. Each job page shows all four answers in full.
